Safety
is a of course a major part of every Mobilrax
installation. A stop bar is fitted to the leading
edge of the bases which automatically stop the
motion of the racks instantly an obstruction is
detected.
The
bases move typically at 4 1/2 metres per minute,
although faster or slower speeds are available
to suit the application. The stop bar requires
very little pressure to bring a moving rack safely
to a stop: In tests, a cigarette packet placed
between two Mobilrax bases is enough
to halt the system.
The
standard load is 15 tonnes per wheel, but this
can easily be increased if necessary. Bases run
on tracks embeded in the warehouse floor. Usually
a thin new floor is laid to accomodate the tracks
- this is usually more cost effective than altering
the existing floor. Bases use rigid beams for
strength.
